It's less interesting than my current job though, and could prove to be boring. But still - it's a certain promotion, which is what I was after. So, I sadly bid adieu to my manager, my director... and finally, in passing, to my DG, who I happened to see in office when I was called in for an urgent request. She shocks me by responding that they will make an English Essential EC-04 box for me if I stay (she doesn't say "we'll try"; she says, "we'll do it"! ), as the pandemic has delayed things within our department to the point that they can justify it. I know that might upset some people, but that's what they said they'd be willing to do. And I'd still be encouraged to go on training once that resumes. And as the box will likely take a while to make, they will give me a year's acting EC-04 in the meantime. Now, we're at the present, and I don't know what to do. Do I pursue the EC-04 at the other department, even if it's a bit less interesting to me? Deployment back to my current group is unlikely as they usually seek to fill vacancies ASAP.
