Were you even aware of this? Probably not considering these guys are rarely given the mic. I'd like to see the Mavs invest in more interesting and ahead-of-its time entertainment for timeouts, and this includes branded games and giveaways from Whataburger, that TV company I can never remember the name of, Community coffee, etc. Fans love watching other fans shoot from half court, yet we see this occur once a game for what reason? I'd love to see this kind of thing more often! There are probably some better games out there beyond your basic ones and the Mavs have really tried to maximize fan participation (Tyson Chandler v. Chandler Parsons as part of that branded American Airlines thing, and the Karaoke come to mind as great ones! ) but there is still work to do. In terms of halftime, I'd love to see more fan participation as well although, honestly, I loved most of the halftime things I saw this year (dog show was the best! ). In terms of giveaways, the Mavs do a great job giving away lots of, tickets, drinks, etc...

While not much is known about Hanjour and al-Hazmi, Atta has been alluded to by the people who knew him as a sexually repressed man who experienced extreme discomfort around women and the mildest hint of sexuality. I was really pleased with that this season and anyone else who got a t-shirt and towel during the playoffs probably was too. Solid thumbs up on halftime and giveaways IMO. *4. Subtleties I want to end my observations on a positive note. I think the Mavs have done a LOT of subtle things to make each experience slightly different and overall I've been impressed. Small things like the soap on the 200 level, the hellos and goodbyes from door staff, the little extras like trampolines, facepainting, and the pluckers minute are really great value adds for even casual fans. I think the Mavs do some fun pre-game stuff outside in the AT&T Plaza as well and the fan clappers and other things to keep fans loud really work. I could do without the DJ and annoying "Defense" chants, but I think at least the Mavs try to be creative with this stuff instead of the old-school organ or new school hip-hop ballad I hear in other stadiums in the NBA. The scoreboards do a good job of presenting the right information at the right times and showing good replays.

Additionally, I'd like to add a word here about how polite the staff is and how clean the concession areas usually are. The staff does a great job and it's noteworthy. What really stands out to me, however, is how different the three levels are! Here again there is a kind of lack of cohesion between the ground floor concessions, upper level concessions, and 200 level (which includes several restaurant style options). I think fans could use more seating and socializing area outside of the arena area. It's not easy, for example, to eat brisket nachos in your seat AND cheer at the same time or to split a Slurpee with someone. In the upper level there are standing, industrial-looking tables that are not only terribly ugly and out of place, but impractical. I split that table with someone else while I ate my BBQ sandwich last week and it was awkward. I think it's good that the Mavs want butts-in-seats but to do so they need to at least consider the needs of people who want to socialize while they eat or to eat comfortably at their seats.
