Are officer jobs with UTA + minimal weekday commitments pretty rare? Should I enlist if that's what I'm after? Also, I've read that SRMGIB eligibility for officers requires 6 years of selected reserve commitment in addition to the current obligation, so does that mean you're looking at 10+ years of commitment to get it as an officer or is there some type of commitment overlap? I have a bachelor's degree and have taken the AFOQT before and did fairly well (Academic Aptitude - high 70s, Verbal - high 80s, Quantitative - low 60s). Years ago I attended Navy OCS as a Pilot candidate but disenrolled due to a critical family emergency (I know I'll need an RE code waiver for the uncharacterized discharge). It was previously a goal of mine to become an officer (which is why I also took the AFOQT) but it just isn't feasible to go active duty due to my financial situation (even accounting for SCRA benefits).

Would my obligation to my non-rated AFSC interfere with the ability to get selected, go to OTS and UPT, and then incur a 10-year commitment after UPT? Would I have to be nearing the end of my commitment to be 'released' for that or is AFRC generally willing to waive the remaining initial commitment in exchange for tacking on a longer one incurred from the new AFSC? This part is a huge longshot but I'm curious. I mentioned previously that I was a Navy OCS Pilot candidate. I am still genuinely interested in serving and am not simply trying to snag a UPT slot by getting into a unit's good graces and hoping they select me and submit a waiver request. However, I'd be lying if I said I wouldn't be tempted to maybe try just for the hell of it (years down the road of course). How does the SRMGIB work for continuing college education? I see that there's a monthly rate paid depending on enrollment status and that the maximum benefit is 36 months. But since colleges bill by semester and the balance usually has to be paid prior to start of classes, is a lump sum paid to the school ahead of the semester based on how many months long the semester is?
The person that administers promotion testing is usually the one that proctors the EDPT. They will generate a letter with the raw score on it. If a person took it upon entry into the AF (like they were trying to be a computer programmer) then their score should be in their personnel record in MilPDS. They would have to ask a local personnelist for a printout/screenshot of their score for submission. I already have orders for my next assignment, can I get them cancelled an become a 1B4 under this program? No I will soon deploy, can I apply? Personnel can apply and we will work each deployment situation differently depending on timing. OJT Retraining will probably not cancel a deployment, but an individual can be converted while deployed and then be moved to a 1B position after deployment. No, these are minimum requirements of the AFSC which must be met by each 1B4 and will not be waived.

Yes, you can apply and we will look at each case individually, but in general DEROS curtailments will not be granted so a member may not be accepted if there is not a local 1B4 position they can fill or of there is a long period of time before a member is eligible to PCS to a 1B4 position. I know this is a wall of text, so I've bolded the main questions since I've provided a lot of extraneous background info and thoughts you probably don't have time to read. For some background info, I'm in my early 30s, married, and have two young kids (toddlers). I have a bachelor's degree. I have a pretty decent civilian job and make about $100k annually pre-tax. My wife is in grad school and hopefully our household income will increase not long after she finishes in 2021. However, we have a ton of debt and our monthly payment obligations are pretty high. For that reason, I am primarily interested in "one weekend a month, two weeks per year" type jobs (if they really do exist these days) since I'll be losing a substantial amount of money during periods of time that I am missing pay from my civilian job. But I have a true desire to serve, and a small amount of extra money from weekend drilling would be a nice plus.

It has some date back in April and no one answers the phone number on the site: Further adding to the confusion I just joined the unit and have not even done on day of duty with them so it is quite confusing why they need this. I tried reaching out to my old unit for help but they aren't answering me back either. Thus I am reaching out to see if I could get someone to point me in the right direction.
